Hi there. My name’s Cassidy. I’m very bad at introducing myself. Not the shaking hands and saying my name part – I’m great at that. It’s the “about me” stuff that’s always gotten me. I’m 23 now, so I’ve had lots of years of social media about me sections to deal with. You’d think that by now I’d have figured out what to put there. I’ll tell you a story instead, and we can go from there.
I was born and raised in the same city I live in today, good ol’ Corpus Christi, Texas. I’m an only child, so from an early age, my friends were more like my siblings. I took my first airplane ride at three months, which set me up for a life full of travel. I love it a lot more now than I did then – the story is that I cried the entire way. That might explain why crying babies on airplanes don’t bother me as much. I was one.
Around age three, I started getting sick. You can read that here. (If you’re here because of gluten free related things or curious about Celiac, go read that. Really.) Just before I turned five, I was diagnosed with Celiac Sprue, which in turn, put me on a gluten free diet for life. That was 17 years ago.
In the meantime, I scooted my way though grade school, got a Bachelor’s of Business Administration in Finance and Accounting in three and a half crazy years, and started my MBA. I’ve made some of the best friends I could ever ask for. I’ve traveled a lot, but considerably less than I’d like to. I started blogging several URLs ago, but they never stuck. I’m not going to be a Celiac or gluten free blogger. I’m not going to do just travel, or just college, or just anything. That never works for me. Instead, I’m going to talk several times a week in the general direction of the internet. Tune in if you’d like, or use the categories to find what you’re interested in. I’m big into arts and crafts, and DIY stuff, which I do here and over at +5 Charisma on the International Geek Girl Pen Pals Club website. If you’ve got a question or comment, send it my way! I love making friends.
Other things that may or may not be useful: I longboard (preferably on flat surfaces), read (there are over 200 books in my room alone), write (I’m starting a mystery for the first time ever), go to the beach, sit in coffee shops, take pictures, collect cheap sunglasses, love postcards, handwrite letters, love all things cute, and want a penguin. See you around!
